There are number of seminal moments in my childhood that steered me towards my appreciation of wildlife
A gift from my parents of a pair of Carl Zeiss binoculars, the Observers book of Birds and a Zeiss Ikon 120 film camera.
I had an air-filled squeeze bulb with a long line that enabled me to release the camera shutter from some hidden distance. The camera mounted on a mini tripod was manually focussed on a cross of bread crumbs so when a sparrow might hop to that place I would squeeze and hope for the best.
The black and white film would be used up after 24 shots - so you had to be sure before snapping!
My father was (and still is) a keen photographer and taught me how to develop my own films. The developed film had to be taken into town for printing and I still remember the excitement of going to collect the printed results.
The Observers Book of Birds fascinated me and prompted me to join the YOC (Young Ornithologists Club) a children’s membership of the RSPB at the time. Roll on the years and in more recent times I worked as a guide at Rye Meads RSPB reserve in Hertfordshire, UK.
In 2015 we moved to West Cork, Ireland to a magical home located just a few metres from the wild Atlantic Ocean. I had no idea of the rich diversity of wildlife I was to encounter. As well as a wide variety of birds the marine life here is stunning including Basking Sharks, Dolphins and three kinds of Whales.
The beauty and wilderness here is so magnificent that I aim to capture some of that essence in photography and videography and to share it with others. Several people encouraged me to offer my photos as limited edition wall art which can be purchased via this website. I also enjoy inspiring people of all ages about the local wildlife giving talks at schools and groups for adults.

Born in Skipton, Yorkshire in 1961, Denis O’Regan is of Irish, German, English and Dutch descent
In 1983 he was the first to graduate from the Guildhall School of Music with composition as a first study.
Denis also studied piano, voice and percussion and during his time at Guildhall met Carol Dolan. A talented cellist from Wicklow, Ireland, Carol had given up her career playing with the RTE Symphony Orchestra to undertake a post-graduate qualification as a Music Therapist which at the time was only available in London.
In 1986 Denis also qualified as a Music Therapist and married Carol and therefore they were probably the first married couple of Music Therapists.

In the nineties he moved from the NHS to Social Services managing a day service in the community of Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire serving a wide variety of needs.
Now with a family of three children (Brendan, Aisling, Declan) in 2003 Denis formed the company Easykey Limited which offers IT training, IT support, Web Development, and Microsoft 365 services.
2011 was a difficult year when Aisling aged 20 finally gave up her battle with Cystic Fibrosis. See aisling.co Brendan moved to New Zealand and Declan to Dubai. After some careful consideration Carol and Denis redesigned their lives and in 2015 moved to West Cork knowing nobody there. They are now appreciating the wonderful wildlife and place of healing their home is and they have eased themselves into the welcoming local community.
Denis now uses his IT skill to develop websites for faith communities see faithful.ie as well as taking on the role of stranding researcher and Cork coordinator for the IWDG (Irish Whale and Dolphin Group).
